Where will my Meeting of Creditors (Section 341 Meeting) be held?

Approximately one month or so after the filing of your chapter 7 or chapter 13 bankruptcy, a 341 Meeting of Creditors will be held. This is the one opportunity creditors have to examine the debtor (you). Don’t worry, the Meeting is quite informal and nothing to fret over. The entire Meeting should last tops 10 minutes and I’ll be sitting right next to you the entire time to make sure things go smoothly.

The county you live in at the time of filing your bankruptcy will determine where your meeting will be held. While the following table (provided by the Colorado Consumer Bankruptcy Association) is helpful for initial planning purposes, please confirm the location of the Meeting with your attorney (hopefully me) and by reviewing the Notice of Meeting of Creditors which the Court will mail to you after the bankruptcy is filed.

I send an email to my clients immediately upon filing and hearing back from the court with the date and time of the Meeting, along with what to bring which most importantly is your SOCIAL SECURITY CARD and a couple other items. If you don’t bring your social security card or an ORIGINAL W2 … the meeting will not happen and you will waste everyone’s time, not to mention likely incur more fees. A passport, a retirement statement, a disability statement, NONE OF THIS WILL WORK. It has to be a social security card or if that’s absolutely not possible an ORIGINAL W2

Wherever a 341 Meeting is being held is considered a federal facility, and as such you should expect to be required to show identification and be searched prior to entry. All weapons are prohibited.

Information about cancellations of 341 Meetings due to inclement weather, building closures, or any other unforeseen circumstances is available by calling (303) 312-7241.

So, with no further delay, here’s that helpful table:
